Abstract

This chapter provides a brief insight into the possible future of positive psychology coaching. It focuses on the application of positive psychology (PP) science in a one-on-one format, argues that there are real benefits to be gained in an investment in one-on-one as has been shown by O'Connor and Cavanagh in their research on the coaching ripple effect. Dias et al. have stressed the need for more neuroscience studies to demonstrate psychology interventions leading to changes in brain functioning. A range of models and frameworks have been included, such as INSIGHT, PRACTICE, ABCDEF and PERMA. Dias et al. develops an Integrative Cognitive-Behavioural Coaching (ICBC) Model incorporating the main techniques, strategies and principles used in positive psychology practice, cognitive-behavioural and solution-focused coaching. This model highlights many of the techniques and Dias et al. discusses how ICBC may actually reflect one branch of positive psychology coaching.
