Being a nuclear operator is a responsibility like no other. As a power generation company, Electricite de France (EDF) has the important mission to deliver electricity to the population in order to meet its daily needs in a timely manner. On top of this public service mission, as a nuclear operator, we have the hefty responsibility of ensuring the safety of our facilities. It is crucial to maintain the trust of the stakeholders, and above all that of public opinion. Although the same motto is relevant for a broad range of industrial sectors—aircraft, automotive, and construction—I believe it to be even more crucial for nuclear. Indeed, safety is the key in ensuring the development of the nuclear industry in the world today.
