Abstract
This is the first in a series of annual talks sponsored by Sport in Society in which a prominent figure from the world of sport addresses an issue of topical importance. Drawing on his 20 years’ experience in competition, India’s only individual Olympic gold medallist discusses the role of technology in identifying athletic talent and improving performance. In examining the physical and mental challenges of pursuing sporting excellence, he concludes that the convergence of culture, information and infrastructure is essential to improving high-performance sport. The lecture was delivered on 29 April 2017 at the Fanattic Sports Museum, Kolkata.
