The author discusses legislation in 1995 or 1996, together with how the U.S. Telecommunications sector, both local and long-distance, is being transformed due to competitive pressures and technological advances. The author discusses the role of the Regional Bell Operating Companies. He goes on to consider the competitive local exchange carrier, cable TV, and full service provision through local service resale.
