Abstract

Drawing upon the work of such authors as Thomas Luckmann and Daniele Hervieu-Leger, the author seeks to develop implications for the field of Christian religious education in a postmodern era of "shrinking transcendence and expanding religion." Beginning with an understanding of what it means to be human, the meaning of religion, and the aims of education, the author explores what the relation of humanity, religion, and education might be in an era of the delocalization of authority and power of traditional religious institutions ? and what this may portend for the future of educational ministry.
