Abstract

The Discussion Group met at Christies, St James's, on Tuesday, 10 March under the chairmanship of Sir Cyril Philips, President of the Royal Asiatic Society and former Director of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. The Group comprised the writers of the Paper and a number of invited guests. For the Discussion Paper which is reproduced below the Society is much indebted to the following: Dr M. E.
