The future for UK renewables

Abstract

Widespread deployment of renewable energy is accepted as a major contributor to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Many countries have established policies to accelerate the development of renewables. The UK Government gives renewable energy a key focus in its Energy White Paper. 1 1 The government White Paper can be found and tracked at: http://www.dti.gov.uk/energy/sepn/index.shtml. While accepted as visionary in its ambition, the White Paper has been criticised as too weak in its definition of the actual policy measures required.
