The Future Development of Shanghai as A Global Centre City: A Comparison with New York City

Abstract

Shanghai, China can be one of the world's economic hubs, and the Shanghai government has enacted a new policy in recent years - Shanghai steps up the pace on readying five 'new cities' for investment - which will enable the city's economy to grow further. New York, which is also the center of the world economy, is not as good as Shanghai under the new policy. The main source of the problem is that Shanghai’s city area is 8 times larger than New York, and with the development of new areas and the renovation of old ones of Shanghai City, the resources and urban area of New York become the main problem.
