Abstract

The article considers the essence and content of modern interstate confrontation in the conditions of a dynamically developing global military-political situation, the formation of a new geopolitical structure of the world, steadily moving towards polycentricity, based on civilizational identity and internal economic integration of new world centers of economic and military power. It is noted that this process leads to signifi cant changes in the orientation and nature of modern military conflicts, which acquire the features of hybridity, based on the complex and simultaneous use of various means and methods of imposing their will on the opposing side. The classifi cation of modern forms of interstate confrontation is justifi ed, which made it possible to determine the fundamental factors that have a signifi cant impact on the content of modern military confl icts. It is concluded that it is necessary to develop a new scientific methodology for analyzing and assessing the military-political situation, developing military policy and the armed forces, and identifying the latest factors that contribute to the emergence and course of military conflicts.
