A. Abstract Using a powerful discharge tube of new design, the infrared arc spectrum of sodium has been photographed, and measured with a thermopile, as far as X 12679, 32D_52F°. In addition to this tine, five new members of the 2D2F° series in Na i were measured with an accuracy of ±0.2 or ±0.3 A. Data supplied by Miss C. E. Moore and Mr. H. D. Babcock, of the Mount Wilson Observatory, indicate that this sodium series is present in the solar spectrum. New values for the 2F° terms are given. In addition, three members of the 42S - 52~° series were observed for the first time Publication: The Astrophysical Journal Pub Date: January 1938 DOI: 10.1086/143902 Bibcode: 1938ApJ....87...68R full text sources ADS |
