Abstract

This chapter seeks to clarify the function of regional networks and international cooperation of higher education with perspectives of regionalism and regionalization in East Asia. International cooperation in East Asian higher education can be largely categorized into regional cooperation and university cooperation, including cases in which individual universities form agreements and consortia to deploy their programs. Such international cooperation suggests new forms of international higher education through education and research exchanges, and they also bring with them perspectives for regional integration and socioeconomic development in East Asia.
