Abstract

The European Community's ERASMUS scheme allows student exchange among European higher education institutions by offering a grant intended to support the additional costs of studying abroad. The number of grants awarded has increased nearly exponentially in the first seven years and is now almost half way towards the target of 10% of the total student population.
