Abstract

This chapter addresses only selected aspects of topic, considering only military contributions and setting aside fact that on many occasions Wallachia and Moldavia supplied Ottoman Empire with oarsmen, food, and logistical support. Equally, author only considers those cases in which Romanian troops served in sultan's army; inverse case, where Porte sent forces to support one or another of Romanian princes, deserves a study in its own right, although treaty obligations, at least theoretically, provided that signatories would be the friend of our friend and enemy of our enemy. Keywords:military contributions; Moldavia; Ottoman campaigns; Porte; Romanian participation; Wallachia
