Abstract

On behalf of the German Association for Research in Automobile Technology (FAT), a representative selection of state-of-the-art vehicle tyres was analysed at the internal drum test bench of the Institute for Automotive Technology at the Universitat Karlsruhe (TH), regarding their potential to transmit lateral force and their deformation behaviour. This article describes the most important results of this research project, which also included extreme operation conditions (tyre loads up to 15000 N and camber angles up to 20°).
