Abstract

In our previous paper we described the sine signal frequency discriminator based on using the special RF equalizer in two channels RF system and these channels amplitude comparative function calculations. In this paper we show its advancement — the new three channels frequency discriminator with an extra RF equalizer. This frequency discriminator can be applied to processing of signals' with spread noise like spectrum and two tones simultaneous sine signals too. It allows determining the basic parameters of the incoming microwave signals such as power, central frequency, and its equivalent bandwidth or frequencies of two sine signals with equal amplitudes. The operation theory of new frequency discriminator and its main relationships are given. The prototype of the frequency discriminator was modeled, manufactured and characterized in 20–2250 MHz frequency range. In paper we give results of its work simulation with input band pass noise signal with relative bandwidth 120 percent, and experimental results on RF equalizers testing with sine signals too. The developed three-channel frequency discriminator is simple to produce.
