Abstract

The free vibration characteristics of a disc with a clamped central region are examined as part of a study of the vibration of a rolling wheel. Analyses have been performed and results are presented here for cases with a point constraint on the periphery and a constraint along part of the periphery representing a contact region. The effects of static, in-plane loading allied between the centrally clamped region and the contact region are also examined, and the associated changes in natural frequencies and mode shapes demonstrated.
