Abstract
AbstractToday, the influence of powerful surface and solid geometrical modelling algorithms allows an unprecedented morphology freedom (FFD) that hardly anybody could have imagined in the world of architectural conceptual design. The FFD's fast dissemination and the associated applications: the Free Form Buildings (FFB), some of them representative of a new trend in the current history of architecture, has brought an “innovation concern” into the traditional design methodology of structural engineering, generating process uncertainties in reliability assessment in general and structural safety warnings in particular. On the other hand, imitation and originality at any cost, achievable thanks to FFD's user‐friendly facilities, lead to ethical problems of sustainability in the technical, cultural and economics fields. FAST (Function Analysis System Technique) may help to obtain the best value index design solution.
