Abstract

A 57 year old woman, who had undergone right femoral vein catheterisation two years previously because of severe acute pancreatitis, presented with persistent pain in the right thigh. The tip of a guidewire was noted in the lower right thigh and was removed in the outpatient department (A, arrow). The computed tomography angiogram showed the three remaining fractured parts lying between the vena cava and femoral vein, in the lower thigh, and calf (B, asterisks). The patient underwent groin femoral venotomy and skin incision in the lateral lower thigh to remove the wires under fluoroscopic guidance.Image 1
