Abstract

Narrowband beamforming can't be directly used in broadband system when aperture fill time exceeds the reciprocal of signal bandwidth, otherwise beam pointing deviation, sidelobe raise, even pattern serious distortion will be emerged. Therefore the broadband beamforming and its efficient and reliable realization technique are significantly important. In this paper, Farrow structure variable fractional delay filter is applied in broadband digital beam forming. Its FPGA realization is presented, along with the preliminary validation results.
