Abstract
Angular correlations in the reaction 12 C(α,α 1γ 4.43) 12 C have been studied for incident energies of 10.2, 10.3 and 10.5 MeV. The data were compared to a single-level compound-nucleus theory. The data substantiate the recent assignment of J π = 6 + to the 14.8 MeV level in 16O.
