Abstract

Based on an energy analysis within the framework of the disclination model, it is shown that a planar mesodefect can (similarly to the dipole of partial disclinations) initiate the formation of a band of reorientation. The process of band formation has been studied by means of computer simulation. It is established that the reorientation band formed in the elastic field of the planar mesodefect represents a system of broken subboundaries, the appearance of which has a kinetic nature.
