Abstract
Abstract On the reaction of an ammonium sulfite solution with a mixed solution of cupric sulfate and zinc sulfate, ten or more complex sulfite salts have been identified by chemical analysis and X-ray diffraction, and their formation regions have been shown with equilateral triangle coordinates. Their crystallographic properties have been examined through optical observation and X-ray diffraction. Usually some of them are formed simultaneously, but sometimes only one of them is formed, depending on the reaction conditions. The newly-found compounds are as follows: Cu2SO3·7(NH4)2SO3·9H2O Tetragonal Cu2SO3·ZnSO3·6(NH4)2SO3·10H2O Tetragonal Cu2SO3·2ZnSO3·5(NH4)2SO3·12H2O Monoclinic Cu2SO3·4ZnSO3·3(NH4)2SO3·12H2O Hexagonal
