Abstract

We simulated fluid-structure interaction problems using the immersed interface method on a Cartesian grid. The immersed interface method allows explicit specification of the jump conditions across the fluid-structure interface, yielding high order accuracy. We in this study evaluated the jump condition with one-side stencil over the interface. The resulting formulation is able to deal with structures even smaller than mesh size. We use local-based and high-order numerical scheme which involves the derivative jump conditions to get high-order accuracy.
