Abstract

The debate on the flow of international news is being waged more on the strength of profound rhetoric than the sharp reality of cold facts. It is therefore not surprising that the rare study presenting data of information imbalance is warmly welcomed by concerned parties. The data presented in this paper show how multinational agency reports excel both in volume and content over those from Third World agencies. While a similar situation exists elsewhere in Asia, it would be beneficial to look at the factors which could correct this imbalance.
