Abstract

413 photographic observations on the FK4 system of 16 minor planets made at four observatories are used to estimate corrections to the FK5 equinox and equator. The observations are reduced to the system of the FK5 by use of procedures recommended by the International Astronomical Union. Equinox and equator corrections are calculated from the L1 method, standard least squares, and iteratively reweighed least squares with three weight functions: Talwar, Biweight, and Welsch. Statistical tests indicate that the L1 solution, which calculates an equinox correction of −0″.153±3″.157 and an equator correction of 0″.220±1″.187, best represents the observations
