Abstract

Dutch engineers have been involved in the design and construction of the 16-kin-long fixed link between Denmark and Sweden from the start. Their input can particularly be found in the design of the Øresund Link, which will be the longest immersed concrete tunnel in Europe; Tunnel Engineering Consultants (TEC) has been involved in the project since 1993. The experience and knowledge gained with the construction of more than 24 concrete immersed tunnels in the Netherlands during the last fifty years has in this way been made available to the project. This paper describes the design of the Oresund Link and, in particular, the immersed tunnel under the Drodgen, the navigation channel between the Danish coast and the island of Saltholm.
