Abstract

The relevance of the topic of the article is due to insufficient study of the problems of the participation of Kazakhs in the First World War. The purpose of the article is to evaluate the role of the Kazakh people in historical retrospect: on the eve of the First World War and during the military operations. The authors also pay attention to the system of rights and obligations of Kazakhs, established by imperial legislation during the First World War. Also, the article examines the causes and results of the uprising in 1916, analyzes the issues of mass seizure of land and the requisition of a large amount of materialassets for the needs of the war, and issues of tax increases. The author concludes that the uprising of 1916 occupies a special place in the history of the centuries-old national liberation movement of the Kazakh people
