Abstract
A 2 nd level university Master degree on Forensic Engineering coordinated by the author has been instituted at University of Naples Federico II in the present academic year 2008–2009. It is the first Master of Science degree regarding this field of engineering in Italy and in the rest of Europe, with exception of United Kingdom. Professors of the Faculties of Engineering and Law are involved in the Master degree and teach eighteen courses of engineering and five of law, respectively. The programme is aimed to create two different professional figures: the Civil Forensic Engineer and the Industrial Forensic Engineer. Only graduates in engineering are admitted to the Master courses and its duration is one year. This paper describes the subjects, the contents of the courses, the main objectives and the great interest showed about the Master degree. On 25 available positions, as many as 53 civil and industrial engineers made application in time.
