Abstract

Two kinds of novel tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivatives having imidazole moieties, TTF-imidazoles, were prepared by the cross coupling reaction of Bu 3 Sn-substituted TTF and N-protected 2- or 4-iodoimidazole followed by the deprotection reaction. Their electron-donating abilities were similar to that of TTF itself in terms of CV measurements. Charge-transfer complexes of TTF-imidazoles with TCNQ obtained by the mixing method, were characterized as partial charge-transfer complexes with segregated stacks. The compressed pellets of these TCNQ complexes showed high electrical conductivities (a = ∼10 -1 Scm -1 ) at room temperature with semiconducting behaviors (E a = 60∼70 meV).
