Abstract

ABSTRACT Chromosomal aberrations (CAs) in wild sapgreen stream frogs (Sylvirana nigrovittata) after single intramuscular injection with glyphosate at 0 (control group), 2, 4 and 8 mg/kg body weight for 3-days were investigated. Significant differences were found in the percentage of CAs in frog and the percentage of cells with CAs between the control group and the glyphosate-exposed groups (p < 0.05). Nine types of CA were observed. The most common CA in the glyphosate-treated frogs was isochromatid gap. The results suggest that S.nigrovittata exposed to glyphosate for a 3-day period may experience structural CAs as a consequence for all doses tested.
