Abstract

Anatrachyntis lunulifera (Meyrick, 1935) (Lepidoptera: Cosmopterigidae) is distributed in the Pacific region, for example, in Fiji and the Marquesas Islands, and larvae of this species feed on the male inflorescence of Pandanus species. In our study, A. lunulifera was collected from Pandanus odorifer (Forssk.) Kuntze in Amami oshima Island, Okinawa-jima Island, and Miyako-jima Island, the Ryukyus, Japan. This article is the first report of A. lunulifera from Japan, North Pacific. In this study, we have redescribed and illustrated the adult, male and female genitalia of A. lunulifera, and illustrated those of A. incertulella (Walker, 1864), another Pandanus feeder occurring together with A. lunulifera in the Ryukyus, for comparison.
