Abstract

We report the first observation of the laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) excitation and dispersed fluorescence spectra of the à 1B 1-X̃ 1A 1 transition of germylene radicals. GeH 2 and GeD 2 radicals are produced in a supersonic free jet by the ArF excimer laser (193 nm) photolysis of phenylgermane and phenylgermane-α- d 3, respectively. The progressions of the ν 2 bending vibration appear in the LIF excitation and dispersed fluorescence spectra. The vibrational assignment is carried out from the deuterium isotope shifts. Molecular constants are determined including anharmonicity terms.
