Abstract
Abstract This issue of the Microelectronics Journal marks the first special issue devoted to low dimensional structures and devices (LDSD). I was pleased to accept the invitation from Microelectronics Journal Managing Editor, Roy Szweda, to become the Guest Editor for the journal's first special issue on this sparkling field. This special issue will also serve as a curtain raiser on the world's first conference dedicated to the topic: The World Congress on Low Dimensional Structures and Devices - LDSD 1995 to be held in Singapore in Spring 1995.
