Abstract
The diatom Pseudo-nitzschia americana (Hasle) Fryxell was found in bathometric phytoplankton samples collected in Amurskii Bay, Sea of Japan, and in coastal areas of Sakhalin Island, Sea of Okhotsk, in different seasons from 1994 to 2000. This is the first finding of this species in Russian seas. A morphological description is provided, including data from light and electronic microscopy; information on the ecology and distribution of the species is corrected and supplemented.
