Abstract

The polarized electronic absorption spectra of p-nitrophenylhydrazine single crystals have been studied at 298 and 77 K and some optical properties have been determined. The unit cell transition moment projection on the (γβ) plane is given. The anomalous liquid to crystal shift is discussed in terms of intermolecular interaction and provides evidence of the considerable role played by resonance in determining high nonlinear susceptibility.
