Abstract
The article analyzes the materials of the first All-Union meeting of workers and female Stakhanovites, held in Moscow on November 14-17, 1935. The systematization of the speeches of the participants of the meeting is given by socio-professional characteristics; by the degree of reflection of the state of affairs in a particular industry; by the quality of the proposed ways to solve problems. The evolution of managers' views on the possibilities and role of the Stakhanov movement is traced. For the People's Commissariat of Heavy Industry and the director's corps, a possible prospect was a general systematic professional development of workers, including the transfer of experience at Stakhanov courses and at Stakhanov schools.
