Abstract

The article considers the measures taken by the bodies of the Khakass Indigenous SelfGovernment to combat the epizootic outbreak of the plague. The author notes that the plague caused significant damage to the cattle-breeding economy of the Khakass (the Minusinsk and Achinsk indigenous dwellers of the Yenisei Governorate (before 1917)). The bodies of the Cattle Breeders’ Indigenous Management together with the provincial and district authorities made enormous efforts to stop the plague epizootic at the end of the 19th century. The imperial authorities developed a whole range of measures; in the indigenous environment, explanatory work about the need to carry out actions to help overcome the plague epidemic of cattle was carried out.
