Abstract
The ferroelastic orthorhombic-monoclinic transition of betaine hydrogen maleinate (CH3)3NCH2COO(CH)2(COOH)2 and betaine berate (CH3)3NCH2COOB(OH)3 has been studied by X-ray diffraction. The temperature dependence of the spontaneous strain and the orientational correspondence of the domains to the parent lattice has been established.
