Abstract
Online Talk Show Culture is an important manifestation of mass culture. It is an application of new discourse and cultural presentation originated from the integration of mass culture with new media in the current social and temporal context. The Internet endows talk show a great space of creation. At the same time, the features of discourse in online talk shows with Chinese characteristics come into being, filling the gap of language variety shows in mainland China and advancing the formation of online talk show culture. The paper studies online talk shows and explores the discourse features of “talk show culture,” which is empowered by new media, from three perspectives: discourse subject, discourse modality, and discourse strategy.
