Abstract
Niphanda asialis de Nicéville, 1895 is a widely distributed butterfly that occurs from Assam (northeastern India) to Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Yunnan. This species is “rare” in India (Kehimkar 2016) but it is moderately common in the Malayan region (Gogoi et. al 2016). Niphanda asialis (earlier known as Azanus asialis) was first described by de Nicéville (1895), based on a single collected specimen from Hofrath Dr. L. Martin.
