Abstract

The integrative fault location approach which combines the single terminal, dual terminals traveling wave location method and traditional fault location method has been brought forward. The new approach could fetch up the deficiency of the dual terminals traveling wave location method. The possible unsuccessful case of traveling wave fault location has been enumerated in the 500 kV Gui-Guang HVDC(high voltage direct current) project, and the causation is explained. The integrative fault location plan is validated in the HVDC project. The structure of the defecting fault traveling wave head parts, the current transformer and the voltage transformer in HVDC project is analyzed. (7 pages)
