The seventeenth century in Russia became a time of active interaction with the European countries and of the strengthening of the national sovereignty. Foreigners appeared more and more frequently in the service of the Russian tsar. People from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth came to serve the tsar and became a part of the Russian nobility.
