Abstract

The propagation of electromagnetic waves, along a circular cylindrical waveguide containing a holohedral isotropic material under the influence of applied static, electric and magnetic fields, is investigated. The constitutive equations employed are based upon those derived by Toupin and Rivlin [1] for such materials. The applied static fields are assumed to be uniform and directed along the axis of the waveguide. An exact solution of the problem is obtained and the speed of propagation and rate of rotation of the wave is investigated.
