Abstract

The far-infrared spectrum of methylene fluoride has been recorded in the region between 7 and 110 cm −1 with a resolution of 0.002 cm −1. More than 3700 rotational transitions up to J″ = 71 and K″ a = 33 in the ground state, and more than 1400 rotational transitions up to J″ = 52 and K″ a = 30 in the v 4 = 1 vibrational state, have been measured and assigned. Simultaneous analyses of these transitions and of microwave, millimeter-, and submillimeter-wave data previously reported in the literature, have been performed. Improved values have been obtained for the centrifugal distortion constants, including, for the first time, some octic distortion constants of the ground state and some sextic distortion constants of the v 4 = 1 state.
