Abstract
Although there has been a wealth of discussion concerning the issue of recovered memories of childhood sexual abuse, most papers represent one or other of two extreme stances in what has become an increasingly polarized debate. This paper evaluates the evidence put forward by both sides of the controversy, arguing for a rational and measured approach, and highlights the importance of the debate for Counselling Psychologists.
