Abstract

The Eye in Systemic Diseaseis a multiauthored textbook with stated aim of examining the interrelationships between eye and systemic disease. The editors acknowledge that a detailed description of each disorder included in book would require a multivolume, encyclopedic set, and, instead, have placed an emphasis on pathophysiologic features linking systemic and ocular manifestations of diseases. The book achieves its stated goal, providing an excellent reference on ocular manifestations of a wide range of systemic illnesses in a single, readable volume. The text is divided into 22 sections according to organ system, such as renal and cardiac disorders, or according to disease type, such as chromosomal disorders or phakomatoses. There is an additional section on ocular manifestations associated with pregnancy.
