Abstract
This book is written by an ophthalmologist for general practitioners. Now in its sixth edition, it clearly fills a need that is felt in English-speaking countries. The present revision holds the line with respect to limited content and detail. The new color illustrations are well chosen and of good quality. If it is fair to criticize a work beset by the problem of what to exclude and what to admit, this reviewer would like to have seen a fuller treatment of angle-closure glaucoma with respect to anatomical predisposition and pathophysiological mechanism. Perhaps the next edition can expand on the method of estimating narrowness of the angle (by flashlight shadow) and recognition of an attack precipitated by dilatation of the pupil in the practitioner's office.
