Abstract
The ( A 3 Π(1 u) ← X 1 Σ g + ) absorption band system of Br 2 has been fully investigated for the first time at high resolution. About 1500 lines with J″ ≦ 79 of 32 bands were measured to within 0.02 cm −1. Accurate vibrational terms and rotational constants of the A state of 79Br 79Br were found for 7 ≦ v′ ≦ 24. Two bands of 81Br 81Br were also analyzed, and confirm the numbering of the A-state vibrational levels. The derived constants reproduce the observed lines to within 0.03 cm −1.
