Abstract

The salting-out effect of some nitrates on the extraction of uranyl nitrate by TBP was investigated. The percentage of uranyl nitrate extracted was determined at various nitric acid concentrations in the presence of NH/sub 4/NO/ sub 3/, LiNO/sub 3/, NaNO/sub 3/, KN0/sub 3/, Cu(NO/sub 3/)/sub 2/,Mg(NO/sub 3/)/ sub 2/, Ca(NO/sub 3/)/sub 2/, Zn(NO i)/sub 2/, Al(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/, and Fe(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/. It was found that the presence of nitrate salting-out agents favors the extraction of uranyl nitrate and that the effects are most remarkable at low acidities. (M.C.G.)
