Abstract

We develop the extended Bruggeman (EB) model for homogenizing chiral-in-chiral composites. The `extension' comes from a rigorous incorporation of the size of the inclusions in the polarization and polarizability dyadics. This model yields three equations which are nonlinear in the EB estimates, and they are solved using the modified Newton - Raphson and the secant methods. The numerical results presented outline the characteristics of the model and the effect of the size of the inclusions and show significant deviations from the extended Maxwell Garnett (EMG) estimates.
